OSRS Strategy ($OSTR)
A community-governed Old School RuneScape treasury powered by onchain trading activity.
"OSRS Strategy connects eligible onchain trading activity with a transparent treasury operating within the Old School RuneScape economy. Strategy fees fund Old School Bond purchases, which generate GP for in-game Gold Distributions and governance-directed treasury accumulation, while public reporting makes the protocol's activity measurable over time."
Protocol at a Glance
Overview & The Economic Flywheel
Old School RuneScape (OSRS) supports a large player-driven economy built around GP, tradeable items, the Grand Exchange, and Old School Bonds. OSRS Strategy is designed to connect onchain protocol activity with this in-game economy through Bond purchases, transparent treasury accounting, and community governance.
OSRS Strategy ($OSTR) adds a governance and accounting layer around this process. Token swaps through fee-enabled pools generate a 1% Strategy Fee. The Gold Distribution and Treasury portions of that fee are used to purchase Old School Bonds, generating GP for holder distributions and governance-directed treasury activity.

$OSTR Token & Genesis Launch Architecture
The $OSTR token is designed with a fixed total supply of exactly 1,000,000,000 OSTR, with no future minting or rebasing. The genesis distribution uses a Uniswap Continuous Clearing Auction (CCA): 60% of supply is allocated to the public auction, 20% to permanent graduated liquidity, and 20% to the development team under vesting.
| Tranche / Purpose | OSTR Quantity | % Supply | Vesting / Lock Architecture |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public CCA Auction | 600,000,000 | 60% | Allocated through the CCA; establishes the initial market-clearing price. |
| Permanent Graduated Liquidity | 200,000,000 | 20% | Committed to permanent graduated liquidity under the launch configuration. |
| Development Team | 200,000,000 | 20% | 12-month cliff followed by 36-month linear vesting. |
Unvested team tokens carry no voting power and are not eligible for Gold Distributions.
Token Swap Fee Architecture
Token swaps through the Uniswap v4 pool are charged a 1% Strategy Fee plus a 0.25% LP Fee, for a nominal combined fee of 1.25%. The Strategy Fee is allocated 40% to Gold Distributions, 40% to the OSRS Treasury, and 20% to the team. The LP Fee accrues to liquidity providers.
- 40% Gold Distribution Pool:$4,000 (Gold Distributions)
- 40% OSRS Treasury:$4,000 (GP / Assets)
- 20% Operations & Team:$2,000
- Project-Supplied Liquidity:Compound Into Liquidity
- Third-Party Liquidity Providers:LP Fee Earnings
| Distribution Target | Fee Share | Swap % | $1M Volume Equivalent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gold Distribution Pool | 40.0% | 0.400% | $4,000 |
| OSRS Treasury | 40.0% | 0.400% | $4,000 |
| Protocol Team & Operations | 20.0% | 0.200% | $2,000 |
Bond Acquisition Engine & Gold Distributions
The Gold Distribution and Treasury portions of Strategy Fees are used to purchase Old School Bonds. Those Bonds are converted into GP through the Grand Exchange. The resulting GP funds holder distributions and treasury acquisitions while keeping GP-related protocol activity inside the OSRS economy.
Calculated using Time-Weighted Average Balance (TWAB) across each monthly epoch. Only eligible holder balances count toward distribution weight; OSTR held in liquidity positions, unvested team allocations, system contracts, and other excluded addresses does not. A 1,000,000 GP minimum immediate payout applies, with smaller entitlements accumulating.
Link an OSRS account through the claim process and receive the allocated GP through the project's in-game distribution procedure.
Keep the entitlement recorded as a Pending Gold Distribution and combine multiple monthly allocations for a later eligible claim.
Voluntarily waive the personal claim and contribute the GP to the Treasury to receive community recognition and participation benefits.
The OSRS Treasury Strategy
The OSRS Treasury receives 40% of Strategy Fees. Treasury proceeds are converted through the Bond-to-GP process, after which GP may remain liquid or be deployed into governance-selected in-game assets. The treasury is reported across two primary asset buckets: Liquid GP Reserves and Governance-Selected Reserve Items.
Governance Architecture & Guardrails
OSRS Strategy uses a two-tier governance model. Voting follows one eligible delegated OSTR equals one vote; unvested team tokens and balances held in permanent liquidity do not vote. Standard proposals govern ordinary treasury decisions such as target item allocations and authorized capital ranges. Constitutional proposals govern structural changes such as fee allocation, Gold Distribution methodology, governance rules, and major treasury limits. Abstentions count toward quorum but not the approval percentage. Initial treasury guardrails include a 25% minimum GP reserve, 10% maximum single-item allocation, 30% maximum item-category allocation, 2.5% standard-proposal capital limit, and 1% normal daily execution limit.
| Governance Rule | Standard Proposal | Constitutional Proposal |
|---|---|---|
| Proposal Threshold | 1,000,000 OSTR (0.1%) | 2,500,000 OSTR (0.25%) |
| Quorum Requirement | 40,000,000 OSTR (4.0%) | 80,000,000 OSTR (8.0%) |
| Voting Period | 5 Days (120 Hours) | 7 Days (168 Hours) |
| Approval Threshold | More For Than Against | ≥ 66.67% For (Abstain Excluded) |
| Execution Timelock | 48 Hours Delay | 7 Days (168h Delay) |
| Treasury Capital Limit | ≤ 2.5% Net Treasury | Defined by proposal, subject to treasury guardrails |
Proof of Treasury & Multi-Tier Verification
OSRS treasury assets are held on dedicated normal game accounts. The protocol therefore uses a four-layer verification model to provide public transparency for proof of reserves.
Dedicated OSRS treasury accounts use RuneLite plugins that allow observers to view reported bank and inventory holdings. Plugin data is one transparency layer.
Material treasury activity is recorded in a public ledger, including Bond purchases, GP generation, item purchases and sales, Gold Distribution accounting, and reconciliations where available.
Periodic public verification livestreams may demonstrate authenticated access to treasury accounts, bank contents, GP balances, reserve-item holdings, and reconciliation against published records.
Community members may request additional evidence for reported treasury positions or material discrepancies, subject to account security, privacy, operational, and Jagex-related limitations.
Standardized Protocol Metrics & Accounting
To make protocol performance consistent and measurable, OSRS Strategy defines standardized treasury and distribution metrics:
Net OSRS Treasury divided by the fixed maximum supply of 1 billion OSTR. This is an analytical metric and does not represent a redemption value.
Percentage change in Treasury / OSTR over the selected period. Treasury Yield is a protocol performance metric, not a guaranteed token-holder return.
Protocol Risk Disclosures
Participation in OSRS Strategy involves material market, technical, treasury, custody, operational, platform, legal, and tax risks. Prospective participants should evaluate these risks carefully:
OSTR price, trading volume, and market liquidity may vary materially. Bond economics and OSRS item prices can also change, and marked treasury values may differ from realizable sale values. OSTR is not redeemable at Treasury / OSTR.
Vulnerabilities in the OSTR token, Uniswap v4 hook, TWAB calculations, governance, vesting contracts, or related infrastructure could impair fee collection, voting, distributions, or other protocol functions.
In-game assets are held on dedicated normal OSRS treasury accounts and remain subject to account security, custody procedures, operator access controls, platform enforcement, and other off-chain risks. Plugin tracking and livestream verification improve transparency but are not cryptographic proof of custody.
Jagex may change game rules, Bond mechanics, Grand Exchange taxes, item mechanics, account policies, or other platform features, and such changes may materially affect protocol operations or treasury values.
